THE STAKES ARE HIGH IN 2026
A Defining Moment for Washington, D.C.

The 2026 Washington, D.C. mayoral election will be one of the most consequential in a generation. The District faces a defining choice between two fundamentally different approaches to Democratic governance.
Our goal is to educate Washingtonians about these governing philosophies and whether the policies associated with them are designed to be practical, affordable, and effective, or driven by ideology without sufficient regard for fiscal and operational reality.
Our Mission
Who We Are
A United DC Research Council is a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to public education and issue advocacy. We work to inform residents about the real-world impacts of policy choices and to promote solutions that strengthen public safety, economic stability, effective government and Home Rule. At a time when the federal government is attacking fundamental rights and generating instability, the District faces mounting challenges including job losses, economic uncertainty, and waning revenue.
This moment underscores the importance of leadership focused on measurable outcomes, not ideological frameworks that prioritize aspirational guarantees and rhetoric over practical implementation and economic reality. While the District has seen recent reductions in crime, progress is fragile. Addressing the root causes of crime and rebuilding a police department that remains roughly 600 officers short of optimal staffing will require sustained focus, accountability, and a clear commitment to public safety.
Our Role
what we do
A United DC Research Council exists to help residents understand these governing differences and their real-world consequences.
We do not advocate for or against candidates.
Our mission is to promote informed civic engagement grounded in facts, outcomes, and an honest assessment of what works.
