Mission Statement
A United DC Research Council is a social welfare organization organized and operated exclusively as a public awareness and education organization under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code to promote the common good and general welfare of the residents of the District of Columbia. The Council’s mission is to educate Washingtonians about both traditional and emerging governing philosophies and to conduct rigorous, independent research and analysis on the public policies that flow from those philosophies. Specifically, the Council examines whether such policies are designed and implemented to be practical, affordable, and effective in delivering measurable benefits to the community, or whether they are instead driven primarily by ideological considerations without sufficient regard for fiscal sustainability, operational feasibility, or long-term consequences for District residents.
Through nonpartisan educational materials and community outreach programs, A United DC Research Council provides Washingtonians with clear, evidence-based information that enables informed civic engagement and more effective participation in local governance. By illuminating the real-world impacts of competing policy approaches, the Council seeks to foster greater accountability in government, encourage the adoption of policies that strengthen the District’s economic and social well-being, and advance the civic betterment of the community as a whole.
